I find myself recently curious about drones for a specific use, at first anyways. I would like to know the options those with experience might recommend for very moderate use. Basically, I would like to use a small drone to help identify the trail ahead in backcountry 4x4 excursions. When exploring new trails, I often find myself plugging through some sketchy, rutted areas only to find a dead end not too far ahead. I'm thinking, "If I had a drone to launch up and get a bird's eye view up to maybe 100 yards ahead or so, I might avoid some of the back tracking due to dead ends." I live and play in the mountains around southern Idaho so winds can sometimes be a factor. I would like to stay under 300 USD if possible. Any suggestions?

In general , sounds like a good idea. Check if there are any limitations where you are thinking of flying.

Some places don’t allow flying

And of course, weather permitting…

Haven’t check prices recently. Something that would let you see obvious hazards should be doable
