Happy New Year, all.

Just got an Atom (not the 2) for Christmas, and am already having a blast. Guess all those years of flying video games paid off,

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself. Bandera, TX, where I live, is about 30 miles NW of San Antonio, in the Texas Hill Country. I'm a retired Air Force E-6, originally from Arkansas. I'm currently working for General Dynamics - Mission Systems under contract to the Air Force as a Network Engineer.

I've been interested in RC aircraft since I was a boy, but was always afraid my "expensive toy" would nosedive on first flight, so I contented myself with flying video games. With the price of drones becoming so reasonable, I sent my wife a list of three that looked like a good value, and the Atom is what I got. If the "bug" stays with me I will use this drone to build skills, then transition to something more professional, as I'm interested in developing this into a side hustle in retirement.

Howdy, tstex. Sounds like a perfect place to get flying experience, as well as get away from Houston.

I'm not from Texas originally. The Air Force brought me to San Antonio in '96, and I retired and stayed. I love the state, but I really wish they had public lands like many other western states do. So many restrictions on flying in State parks, even city and county park management are leery of it most times. There are places to fly in this area, just have to drive a bit to get to them.
