If you are in the US, circumventing the 400' altitude limit is in violation of FAA Part 107 and could get you in hot water unless you have your Part 107 and have applied for an exemption. If your drone is above 250gm you need to have a remote ID Module as well, unless it has one built in...

I am not sure about the D58, but if you turn on the drone first, try holding down both control sticks and then turn on the remove controller. That might fix it. It does with the Dreamer.

I don't like using my phone because the image is so small. I have a 10" tablet and an adapter to attach it to the remote control. Using the cable to attach it to the controller, I have never had a problem with the app.
