Hi everyone, has anyone here replaced the internal batteries for the AE86 color screen remote control? I haven’t dug too deep into research yet, but a contact in the manufacturing/design industry mentioned that most people just opt to buy a whole new remote. That seems like a ridiculous solution to me—I’m not convinced. Surely someone has managed to replace the old batteries instead. Any advice?

Any advice?

Welcome from the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, USA.

I am sorry but I cannot be of help. Have you googled every possible solution and have you checked YouTube?

Good Luck!

The first task is to get inside the case. If you can see the heads of screws holding the back and front of the case together, then all you need is an appropriate screwdriver and a pot to put the screws in. If front and back are sealed together, then you have a problem. I have opened sealed plastic cases using either a hot knife (a blade-shaped tip on a soldering iron) or a cutting disc on a hand-held rotary tool, but you have to be ever so careful not to push the tool in too far. A small hacksaw blade is also a possibility, but it will take much longer. Once inside, cutting the wires to the battery and soldering them to a replacement should not be too difficult.
