My Atom 2 showed up yesterday. I bought the Fly More version. It is for my 8 year old grandson. After unboxing, I charged the batteries, and downloaded the Eve application onto a dedicated BLU G84 phone. The BLU G84 is inexpensive and has a really bright screen and good pixel count. After initialization (really easy and fast), we were ready to fly. I have one word to say about the flight characteristic of the Atom 2. WOW! This drone flies as well as my Mini 4 Pro..... really! It 's very stable and responds well to the stick, and return to home was dead on. My grandson was able to launch, fly, and land the Atom 2 easily. I wanted him to get lots of stick time, so we didn't play with any of the features other than follow me. He insisted. It worked great! And yes, the BLU G84 worked really well in the sun. But I am going to build a cardboard sunshade that mounts under the cell phone. I also purchased a hard case from Amazon for $40. It's much easier to use than the bag that came with the Atom 2. So far, I am really impressed with the Atom 2.
BUT.... for some reason I was unable to register the Atom 2 to on FAA DroneZone as a drone with RID (remote ID). The remote ID number displayed in the Eve application is invalid. I tried several times with no luck. Has anyone else had this problem?
