Holy Stone HS720/720E drone controller tablet mount mod

I know this was discussed a year or two back, but there has been no reçent interest. Also, the earlier thread is pretty useless -- the video is now "private". And finally I tried starting conversations with two of the participants to no avail.

Anyhow, I have never been happy with the HS-720e controller's cell phone holder. There is no way to use it with a tablet and worse yet, it would not accommodate my cell phone's (Moto G Power) protective case. After some 20+ flights the inevitable happened -- it fell from the controller, hit the cement below and was destroyed.

Since I couldn't glean any info from the above my mentioned thread, I did my own mod. First, after reading some YouTube reviews I bought Tablet Holder V2 made by PGY Tech on Amazon ($19.90). https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07L9LLFJQ

Using my drill press I drilled holes through the controller's "feet" and the holder. It seems very sturdy and can hold my soon to be new cell phone (with or without the case) AND can hold my Samsung Tab A.

Thank you for the good idea and photos. I am always worried about my phone popping out of the Holy Stone controller.

Also an ex-r/c pilot. Also gave up r/c and got a drone. I thought it would be fun, but it is not as fun or challenging as flying fixed wing R/C. I am not a big fan of the computer control, I prefer the direct input of r/c. I do enjoy the camera and bird's eye view from my HS720E. 100 flights logged. Would to go back to r/c except our local field was pushed out by an encroaching sub-division.
