The wife and I are off grid in Alaska and have to take a steep mile plus tracked ATV ride to get to our place. Even on a tracked ATV it's rough and so most of our building supplies and such were delivered via helicopter.

Enter my bright idea of buying a DJI FlyCart 30 to sling some of the smaller items up and save wear and tear on our ATV and save money on helicopters. It can only sling up 88 pounds but would be useful for us in a whole host of ways. However, it's DJI and with world events and our experience with the company (like our Mavic thermal drone no longer able to maintain altitude within a hundred feet and that apparently being a common thing without a fix), I wince at the thought of spending the ENORMOUS amount of money for this big drone.

But the biggest hurdle is the maintenance manual which essentially says every single component on the drone has to be replaced, even if undamaged, every 1000 flight hours or every three years. What??? The remote controller, the RADAR, the cameras, etc etc. That's nuts, so I'm trying to figure out how true that is.

Anyway, figured I'd check in here just in case somebody has experience with one of these things. It's one thing to spend a grand or two on a Mavic, but this purchase is on a whole different level...

Oh, just got to the end of the long manual and it sums it up nicely, the entire DJI FlyCart 30 has to be replaced, it says, every three years or every 1000 flight hours. That is absolutely.....insane.

Welcome from the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, USA.

I am sorry but I would suggest you start googling for repair centers and start asking questions, look for user groups, look for business that might use this drone and again ask questions, be up front and explain why.

I do not understand the logistics of what you propose. I imagine that there are a lot of trees where your place is and trees are filled with water and water dampens signals. So how do you propose to work this. Fly the drone from your place to the landing site, drive out to the landing site, load the drone, fly the drone back to your place and then follow it on the atv?

I would imagine that $35,000 would pay for a lot of ATV trips, I do not know how it would save a helicopter trip. If you go for the dual battery configuration, it will reduce the carry capacity. Best case the single battery only last 26-minutes and even with two batteries, it only increases flight time to 36-minutes.

But with a full 30 Kg load you only get 9-minutes (or 8 kilometers…) of flight time on one battery and 18-minutes (or 16 Kilometers…) on two batteries and that is BEST CASE…

I assume you will be flying this beyond line of sight, especially to get it from one place to another…

Any case, but I would think $35,000 would buy you several really nice Gator ATVs with a roof, side curtains, stereo system and more…
