Hi

I'm about to purchase my first drone either a mini 3 or mini 4/5 pro. Im just looking at the basic remotes without the built in screen. I've done a ton of research and know the differences between the drones and benefits of dedicated remote versus Phone.

Have seen old posts mentioning phones badly overheating when running the app in warmer climates as i mainly intend to use the drone on holidays not in the uk, is this still an issue or a past problem with a badly designed app?

Im not sure whether i should get a newer drone with basic remote or older one with a controller with built in screen RC remote.

Any guidance would be much appreciated thanks.

I bought a drone and controller with built in screen on the basis that I wanted to keep the two functionalities separate, as in I don't have to dismantle anything in order to receive a phone call

It's highly recommended to set the mobile in "flight mode" when using it as a screen for the drone, this to avoid interferences and possible fly aways....

Fair enough. Putting the phone into flight mode will disable incoming calls and texts anyway

Of course. But is it more important to be available in those 20 minutes of flight or to lose the drone, or worse to damage other people?
When I fly, I always put my phone in flight mode, even if I don't use it as a drone screen and it's in my pocket.
In any case, everyone does what he think is best...
