I just bought this drone, and I’m having trouble maintaining the proper orientation between the controller and the drone when it’s farther away.

I understand how to tell whether the drone is facing me from the on-screen map/indicator/arrow, but that doesn’t necessarily tell me whether I’m facing the drone. For example, the drone could be pointed directly at me, but if I’ve turned 90° while following it, my controller may no longer be properly oriented toward the drone, resulting in a weak signal.

Can someone explain how to use the on-screen indicators to determine whether I am actually facing the drone so I can keep the controller properly oriented toward the drone and avoid weak signal warnings?

Thanks!

One simple habit is to keep your body and controller pointed in the same general direction as the drone, especially when it gets farther away.

The map arrow helps with where the drone is facing, but your controller signal depends more on where you are aiming the controller and the antenna relative to the drone.

I’d practice close and low first: fly out, turn around slowly, then physically turn your body with the drone so you build the habit. Also, if you get weak signal warnings, stop pushing farther out and bring it back closer before continuing.

Thanks for the quick reply! I’ve been practicing, and I can see the blue drone arrow icon and my own location as the small circle on the map. What I don’t see is any indicator showing the direction I’m facing while holding the controller. The only directional arrow I see is the one showing which way the drone is pointing.

It seems like it would make more sense if the app displayed two different-colored arrows: one for the drone (showing its heading) and one for the controller/operator (showing the direction I’m facing). As far as I can tell, it only shows the drone’s heading.

What am I missing?
