I recently bought a DJI Mini SE and plan to fly the drone recreationally in California. I recently heard that there is a test that one has to take to fly drones recreationally. Is this valid for the dji mini se which is just 249 grams? Also there are some areas that don't allow drone operations. Is there a comprehensive drone no fly zone database that I can check. I also no that DJI gives you a flysafe database but not sure how comprehensive it is?

It's called getting the TRUST certificate. It's more of a course than a test.

Go to Pilot Institute, and take their FREE TRUST course. Shouldn't take more than half an hour, and you can then print your TRUST certificate when you're done.
