Hollo! I am new to small, quad copter drones. I have a 107 and want to start a drone business as a side hustle. Is this forum a good place to ask those type of questions or is more for hobbyists?
Thank you!

Welcome from the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, USA.

I would not say that this web site is a bad site to ask you questions, as many members are also professionals who are also in the business, but each one, each location, is uniquely unique… With that being said, "What's good for the Goose is not necessarily good for the gander.

There are so many options and your skill, your location, your equipment to name a few will determine what you might consider…

There are so many options: Photography, Videography, Infrastructure Inspections (Bridges, Towers, Windmills, etc…), Surveying, Post disaster Insurance Inspections, Crop Inspections, Agricultural Applications (Fertilizer, Pesticides and Herbicides), Media (Television and News Print), Facility and Event Security, and Small Package Delivery, just to name a few…

As a beginner, you do not even know what questions to ask and hoping that some of the members will teach you the business is a lot to ask…

I would recommend you glance at the bottom of the screen and notice the various Sister Web Sites to also join, especially if you have one of the drones they are dedicated to…

There are hundreds of Videos on YouTube offering advice, suggestions, and instructions on how to start and run a drone business. These at least will give you enough knowledge to start asking the right questions on business plans, loans, insurance, licensing, networking, permits, authorizations, waivers, etc… and so much more…

Finally, I would also recommend you consider a professional course dedicated to starting and running a drone business…

And the promotional video…

Best of Luck to you!

Thank you! Those links are helpful!
I am new to small quad copters, not new to drones or 107 operations. I plan on taking small business courses and joining a mentorship program. My questions would relate more to technical questions about commercial, (non-chinese) equipment. For example, how easy it is to go back and forth between something made by different companies, (like DJI to Parrot) from a user interface perspective.

how easy it is to go back and forth between something made by different companies,
I imagine it all depends on the pilot. Since the Part 107 Certification does not requires a "Driver's test..." there are folks who have the 107, but no drone... Keep all controllers in the same mode and practice, practice until you fly with muscle memory. Otherwise, just be glad that a GPS Drone will hover patiently while the pilot figures out which stick or button does what...
