Is the app and Wi-Fi necessary or can you use the hand held controller.

I’m about to upgrade to a Holy-Stone and noticed that the hand controller is basic unlike my cheaper drones. Is this because you ‘have’ to use the app and mobile phone and therefore not able to operate by the controller alone. Thanks

yes you can fly without using your mobile phone and app , I fly my HS720 a lot without my phone when I don't care about taking pictures or videos

Starting on page 18 of your manual with section (9.3 pairing) follow all the instructions for calibrating through page 20 . the wi-fi connection is for the camera data transmission
