Drone software updates?

When the software (firmware) on board the drone needs to be updated, how is this done?
Does the HS Fly App carry this payload (as needed) and deliver it when it next connects to the drone?

Holy Stone support responded saying that updating the software/firmware within the drone itself is not currently possible. At least not at this time, not after delivery to the consumer.
