I'm no expert but I'd like to try to help you. I assume you have a home network that you have to disconnect from in order to connect to the drone. Do you have autoconnect enabled on your phone for that home network? If so, you might try disabling autoconnect to see if the drone wifi will stay...

I agree! There are many uses for old phones. TV remote and dedicated music player are 2 that come to mind quickly.

Is it possible the confusion has to do with 2.4G vs. 5G network frequency? that would make more sense, I think, but I can't fathom why the drone would be limited to the 5G network.
